| The Mansfield News Journal and the Richland County Youth and Family Council are collaborating in a project to identify young people who make "good choices", but may never stand out in a crowd. We hope to identify youth who possess characteristics of generosity, caring, initiative, responsibility, respectfulness and persistence, yet do not excel in sports or academics and receive recognition in this way. These are the young people that seldom get their names in the paper even though they work as hard as they can to become productive citizens.
The Family Council has committed to soliciting these nominations, and facilitating the screening and selection process. The Mansfield News Journal has committed to developing a story and regularly featuring these young people in editions of the paper.
There is no age limit, although the criteria suggest that nominees will be adolescents. It is possible that they may be young adults that have recently graduated from high school.
